STI Austria runs a number of one of and annual events to support both industry and research.
In conjunction with the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) the Forum Semantic Systems 2009 will be held Vienna on the 4th of March 2009. The primary aim of this event is to bring together researchers, industry practitioners, and decision makers in order to analyze the current status of semantics and semantic technologies. Based on this analysis the secondary aim is to identify the instruments necessary to maximize the impact that semantic technologies can on the future of the internet and to position Austrian research and development in this market at the European and International levels.
Building on the success of the Tiroler IT Tag 2008, the second annual event will be held in the STI Innsbruck offices on the 9th of October 2009. The event aims to continue the transfer of innovative research from STI Innsbruck to Tirolean Industry through a full-day program of presentations and discussions.
The STI Business Brunch was held on the 23rd of April 2008 at the STI International offices in Vienna with the aim of introducing semantic technologies and their future potential to interested parties in Austria. The business brunch was split into two sessions. During the first session, researchers from STI Innsbruck presented relevant research. A panel discussion with representatives of commercial and research organizations was held in the second session. Held in conjunction with transIT and holzweg e-commerce solutions, the 2008 Tiroler IT Tag aimed to give information on innovative developments at STI Innsbruck to Tirolean companies. The event was held on the 29th of February 2008 at the STI Innsbruck offices and compromised a full day of presentations and discussions around semantic technologies and their relevance to Tirolean industry.
